Your brain is a spiral you can't get out of. No matter what, you're stuck in it, and you'll keep going even deeper down into it. But you're not alone in that. Everyone you know is going through the exact same hell.
How can you bring yourself to let them rot, when you know they'd never let you?
Reaching down hurts, you know your footing isn't stable enough for the wrong move to not send you down with them.
But how can you not?
We're human. At least, in some respects, in an objective sense. The Fragile is an album about how even in our worst moments, we'll do anything for those we love. We'll do anything to be with those we love. It's about how, even when you get better, in just a split second, everything can come crashing down again, and you're back to where you started. You'll be back at square one because you tried.
But how can you not?
Even if you can't save yourself, and a lot of people can't, you can try your best for others. And that's what they deserve. And that's what you deserve. Giving up is resigning others to their fate. And maybe they're stronger than you, maybe they'll claw their way out of the spiral, wrists covered in scars that'll never truly fade. But couldn't you have mitigated that? You could've been a positive presence. Even if everything loops, even when it feels like one side tracks right back into the other, that you'll never truly get better or past it, you need to try. You need to try for those you love. Because their lives are better for it. And they'll try for you.
Because how can they not?
